Cedele Depot people so clever...

The supposed tennis game with Thomas and Shuxian got postponed so i followed Grandma and Mum to Tan Tock Seng Hospital for a check-up. Grandma, you see had a mild stroke a few months back, pretty scary when she started slurring and all. Today was her last check up before she was declared sort of "stroke risk free", good news because the neurologist said she was okay.

Mum kept raving about the cakes at Cedele Depot so she brought us there for breakfast. While she was busy on the phone, Grandma and I went ahead to order. Friendly guy at the counter asks for our orders. While i was looking at the displays Grandma gave the ultimate request, i bet no one working in Cedele had heard before.

without looking at the menu. Grandma politely says:

"ah....kopi si kosong zi pua! please"

You should have seen the "huh" look on the guys face. okay so they have the home brew, mocha, latte, expresso and the works...no kopi si kosong, this is no Yakun or Killiney.

I was silently grinning the whole time. Good thing the counter guy was a smart fella.

"ur.........sorry aunty we don't....er....oh! so you want coffee with milk and no sugar?"

haha! so clever! Grandma gave the puzzled look so i just nodded at the guy and said that was what she wanted. Could have just tipped the guy for being so nice but Grandma would have just knocked me on the head for "wasting" money, lucky she didn't know that latte here was $2.50 and not 60 cents.

I wished i brought her to Starbucks next door, wah that would be even better. Then she can order her "kopi si kosong" and i can get a "milo-peng" muahahaha. Imagine the guy asking what size we want our drinks.
