Of Travels pt.1

This entry was supposed to be one day later and posted from some dodgy internet cafe in Kuala Lumpur after two damn good and hot days in Redang. But like all last minute plans nothing turns out our way because we didn't foresee the entire Malaysia on holiday during the long vesak weekend. So Pulau Redang was fully booked and we decided to give the sandy beaches and crystal waters a miss for some good ol Panang nua-ing.

Beatrice, JY, Thomas are playing pool, Molly and Darryl are reading i dunnoe what and I'm having a crap bottle of beer which is damn good on a hot Penang afternoon. All of us are nw chillaxing at some guesthouse in Chulia street, Penang. I rather the ones in Cintra but finding a place to stay during the long weekend is sibeh hard man. We trekked the whole of Gurney Drive for the chi chi 4 star stuff but gave up after walking into three fully booked hotels. That was after a long 5 hour bus ride from KL where we were stuck at the train terminal for an hour or so because our bus got delayed (turns out Konsortium Bas Company got grounded by the government for being invovled in too many accidents, dumb luck that it was the next day we booked our tickets from them).

Anyhoo whats travelling without a few bumps in the road to spice things up a little yeah? speaking of spice we just gorged ourselves with damn nice naan/thosai/tanndoori/paneer/many indian goodies.

We also had some roadside ice kachang and laksa which was mind blowing.....i mean damn that bowl of penang laksa was probably the best 2.50rm bowl of noodles i had in my life, i mean you kinda wanna rub your tummy with your other hand palmed to your heart while savouring that sour bowl of goodness. Darn i wish i could show you the photos now: The overhead shot of the laksa, the side shot macro of the wanton mee, the damn good chickthe artery choking crispy chicken skin, chicken wings at Wong Ah Wah in Jalan Alor, Kuala Lumpur. (dubbie! damn nice, WE MUST GO THERE!!!!) Would have posted them if i didn't forget to set my camera to JPEG instead of RAW.

We're going out soon to look for more good food when the sun goes down. (anyone know where to get good char koay tiao in Georgetown?) Then we're taking a overnight bus back to Singapore, which was quite the hard ticket to obtain at this festive season. I wish we could stay longer here but i think the rest of the guys have to work.

Darn i forgot how shiok it is to travel again, without a care in the world, beer, honest food and strangely foreign yet homely areas. On my other browser tab i'm reading Dawn's blog and yes dawn prawn....who the fuck enjoys working in a cubicle? Wherever your going (i hope S.E. Asia) lets meet up some where can? drink cheap beer and unheathly food while the rest are in their office gear deciding what to eat at the cannot make it food republic?...sounds good yeah?

My one hour is up, too many ang mohs are flooding the internet stations. Good bye!
