The Day a Half Ang-Moh and a "Only Speak English" Chinese Conquered the City
Today's trip around the City was the first of the field trips i planned to go during the holidays. Started to jio people from studio to come but everyone was "busy". What to do? I must apologise for the last minute planning. In the end only Thomas could come. At least there was company. Thomas, I must explain is half Austrian and half Chinese but one full blood Singaporean. His surname is Wong and not Grashilschik or Kaufman, so don't play play.
Thomas peers into the lense and tries to find the durian
Met Thomas in the morning at City Hall MRT. We went old school today. That involved using "non-digital" cameras and returning back to good'ol film. Armed with 4 rolls of kodak, two nikon slrs and my "fierce" looking tripod we went around touring the city taking pictures like some mad japanese school girls. Trigger happy me easily wasted one roll of film on three buildings. Die liao. Lucky i brought along my digital camera, actually i only brought that along to take funny stuff and post them here so i won't end up describing stuff with my poor engrish.
We only managed to cover the City Hall area and decided that Raffles Place and Tanjong Pagar needed another day. That should be the next trip. Places we went included Saint Andrew's Cathedral, Armenian Church, Supreme Court (the ugly one and the old one) Victoria Concert Hall, a few bridges, New National Library, Esplanade to name a few. There is just too many. And yes Geraldine, I agree, the Fullerton is very very nice, i think the first words that came into our heads were wah chio!. It won't be the last time i'll visit it for sure.
One of the many roads we jay-walked
Despite the midday rain everything went well even if we got questioned by library security, Harvey Norman sales staff and many silly concerned security guards. Excuse me? Thomas and I are usually the victims not the evil-doers okay? But cannotch say like all Singapore staff are unfriendly, some of the service staff like the people in Raffles Hotel and The Fullerton are top class, sincere smiles and alot of "huan ying huan ying" langauge. No wonder they are so famous.
Cannot take inside i take from outside. Had to climb a HDB falt for this. ha!
Saw this at Esplanade. Ha!
See the similarities?
Thomas's girlfriend, Samantha met with us for dinner and joined the last part of the trip, which was going up Sheare's bridge. Sheare's bridge was a long walk but it was fun. Much thanks to Samantha for sacrificing her Wonka Chocalate bar for us, I'm now a convert with a sore throat. Wonka rocks! We took a few crazy pics.
Posed shot trying to act "pro"
note the top left the sign post glimmering
"V123" It's time to get 4-D!
How come the first pic i look like some spirit?
Sore feet and even more sore throat from the chocolate. Will develop the film tomorrow, scan them and max out my flickr account for the month. muahahaha. Stay tuned!
